Kaikoura primary school pool enclosure
Complete Projects provided architectural design and project management services for the upgrade of the Kaikōura Primary School pool enclosure, delivering an important improvement to a well-used school and community facility.
The project involved the replacement of the existing pool enclosure structure, which had reached the end of its service life and was no longer providing adequate protection from the coastal environment. The goal was to create a more durable, functional, and weather-protected enclosure that would improve the usability of the pool throughout the year while supporting the long-term needs of the school and wider community.
Working closely with the school and project stakeholders, Complete Projects managed both the design and delivery process from initial concept development through to project completion. The design focused on improving environmental protection, natural light, ventilation, and day-to-day functionality, while also considering durability and maintenance requirements appropriate for the harsh coastal conditions of Kaikōura.
The upgraded enclosure now provides significantly improved shelter and comfort for students, staff, and community users, extending the practical operating season of the facility and supporting ongoing physical education programmes, swimming activities, and community use.
As part of our project management role, Complete Projects coordinated communication between consultants, contractors, and the school to help ensure the project was delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption to school operations.
This project reflects the importance of well-planned educational infrastructure upgrades and demonstrates how practical design and structured project management can help schools maximise the value and lifespan of important community assets.
